The action and thriller film Mera Karam Mera Dharam was released in the year of 1987. The movie was directed by Dulal Guha and produced by Prem Mohan Lalwani. The major roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Uttam Kumar, Moushmi Chatterjee and Shashikala while the roles of Padma Khanna, Johny Walker, Asit Sen, Abhi Bhattacharya, Brahmachari and Yogita Bali were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal. The songs of the film were sung by Mohammed Rafi.

The movie Mera Karam Mera Dharam was an action and thriller movie that revolved mostly around Ajay Shankar Sharma ( Dharmendra ) and his mother Shivani Sharma ( Urmila Bhatt ) who lived poor lifestyle. They lived quite poorly but the twist in the story comes when Shankar’s maternal uncle, Deviprasad ( Uttam Kumar ) comes and visits them. Deviprasad is a wealthy man and offers them his estate for their well being.

But Deviprasad has a condition for them that they should improve their town Sundergarh and the responsibility of this lies on Deviprasad’s son, Sarjuprasad ( Shreeram Lagoo ). Ajay and his mother accept the condition but after few years Ajay’s mother and Deviprasad pass away. Ajay was busy managing the Bombay based business, and kept sending large sums of money to Sarjuprasad for the development of roads, and a new school building. But he was shocked to note that Sarjuprasad was not making the good use of money.
