The action and thriller film Naam O Nishaan was relased on May 15, 1987. The movie was directed by Ajay Kashyap and produced by B P Verma. The major roles in the movie were enacted by Sanjay Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Amrita Singh and Kader Khan while the supporting roles were played by Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, Nirupa Roy, Priya Tendulkar, Nivedita and Bandini Mishra. The music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and Naresh Sharma while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar and Alka Yagnik.

The movie Naam O Nishaan was an action and thriller film that revolved mainly around a guy named Suraj Singh ( Sanjay Dutt ) who lives a wealthy life with his Police Inspector father Sangram Singh ( Shashi Kapoor ), mother ( Seema Deo ) and sister, Chutki. Suraj was always interested in police as he had grown up waching these people. He thus becomes a Police Inspector. Suraj’s father brings Suraj’s paternal uncle, Jaspal Singh with him who moves in with them.

The twist in the story comes at the time of both the lover’s marriage. Chutki’s to be father-in-law who himself is a police officer, stops the marriage to take place as he wanted Sangram to remove jaspal Singh from their household. When Sangram refuses, the marriage is canceled. When Suraj questions this, Sangram refuses to provide any answers as well. The movie takes a tuen when Suraj meets with and falls in love with a girl named Vanisha ( Amrita Singh ).
