Bollywood yesteryear hit movie, Nirala, directed by Devendra Mukherjee and written by P. L. Santoshi was released in the year 1950. The movie starred Dev Anand and Madhubala in lead roles while Narbada Shankar, bMazhar Khan, Shanti Madhok, Leela Mishra, Mumtaz Ali, Shama Gulnar and Javed also played important characters in the film. THe melodious veregreen hit music of the film was given by the legendary music director C. Ramchandra while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Shamshad Begum, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Anand ( Dev Anand ), who is a doctor by profession and has just returned from abroad. While returning to his village, he meets with a beautiful girl named Poonam ( Madhubala ). Poonam’s mother is seriously ill and needs treatment immediately. Anand visits to her home and soon her mother recovers from her ill state. Anand is asked to spend some time with family and he agrees. Anand and Poonam falls in love with each other and decides to get married soon. But Poonam’s brother intervenes and forbids her from seeing Anand anymore.

He then throws Anand out of the house and get Poonam married to a wealthy guy named King Sangram. Anand has no other choice but to accept his misfortune. Anand forgets about Poonam and starts living a fresh life. But destiny once again brings him back to Poonam, when he is called by King Sagram to provide medical treatmet to Poonam. Soon the lovers once again starts developing feeling for each other. But what this illicit relationship will lead to?
