Manoj Agrawal directed, Pardesi Babu was released on 13 November 1998. The movie starrer Govinda, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles while Shashikala, Satish Kaushik, Aashif Sheikh, Arun Bakshi and Gavin Packard also played important roles in the film. The film was produced by Kulbhushan Gupta and the music of the movie was given by Anand-Milind and Anand Raj Anand while the songs were sung by Poonam Bhatia, Udit Narayan, Aditya Narayan, Preeti Uttam Singh, Alka Yagnik and Kavita Krishnamurthy. The movie perform well at the box office.

The movie starts with Raju Pardesi (Govinda). He lives a poor lifestyle in a village alongwith his step-mother. Later he decides to relocate to Mumbai. He is received by his friend, Happy Singh (Satish Kaushik) and he also arranges his accommodation with a stern landlady named Mai. Raju is a kind hearted man and therefore he wrestles and even loses to a professional wrestler. He does this because he wants him to use the money to help others. One day when he comes back to his room, he finds it occupied by a runaway bride, Chinni Chopra (Shilpa Shetty).

Both Raja and Chinni fall in love which Mr. Chopra doesn’t likes. He meets with Raju and asks him to earn one crore rupees in one year to marry Chinni. Raju accepts this challange and leaves. After several days Chinni receives a letter from Raju informing that he has been able to accumulate the stipulated amount and soon he is coming to Mumbai. But after a long time, Raju doesn’t come. So Chinni goes to Darjeeling to find Raju where she witnesses Raju is marrying Karuna (Raveena Tandon). Also Chinni’s father arrives and accuses him to use Chinni to steal five crores.
