Pratibandh was an action drama released on September 28, 1990. The movie was directed by Ravi Raja and produced by A Arvind. The significant roles in the movie were played by Chiranjeevi, Shafi Inamdaar, Juhi Chawla and Rami Reddy while the roles of Harish Patel, Ramesh Deo, Reema Lagoo, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Sumanlata were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar, Alka Yagnik and Mohammad Aziz.

The title of the movie Pratibandh can easily tell us the genre of the movie which happens to be an action film. The story of the movie revolves around Siddhanth ( Chiranjeevi ) who is an orphan. The orphan boy is brought up by his strict and unrelenting school-master, Satyendra Sharma ( Somayajulu J.V. ). He has never shown any love or kindness over Siddhanth. But the things have changed and he is now Sub-Inspector with Bombay Police and just giving to the world what he has experienced till now, hatred and cruelty.

The twist in the story comes when Jeevan Ram loses his election to Home Minister, Hirawat Chowdhary ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda ), he threatens to expose him. But before he could take actions against him, his dead body was found on a railway track. The case was then considered as a case of suicide and the file was closed. Another twist in the case of Jeevan’s murder came when an eye witness Shanti ( Juhi Chawla ) , a toy vendor, came forward claiming that she has seen her murder.
