The family drama Prem Yog was released on August 23, 1994 under the banner of Akruti Films. The movie was directed by Rajeev Kumar Chaudhry and featured Rishi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Madhoo and Paintal in the lead roles while the supporting roles were played by Shakti Kapoor, Johny Lever, Prem Chopra and Tinu Anand. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri and the songs were sung by Anuradha Paudwal, Hema Sardesai, Vinod Rathod, Sadhana Sargam, Ila Arun and Aroon Bakshi.

Though the name of the movie Prem Yog makes us think it as a romantic movie but it was more of a family drama. The movie starts with the joyous sight of the Maharaj Chatrapal Singh ( Shammi Kapoor ), emperor of Ramgad, who is now extremely happy as his wife Maharani ( Anjana Mumtaz ) has given birth to a son. However their joy didn’t last long as the palace astrologer Raj Jyotshi ( Rajan Haksar ) told the ruler Chatrapal that he will be the last king of Ramgad and nothing is linked to his son Rajkumar Raju ( Rishi Kapoor ).

Disappointed by this news, Chatrapal decided to protect Raju from the outside world and keep him in a secluded place within the four walls of the palace and its surrounding grounds. Years later when Raju has grown up and seeing this, his father arranged his marriage with a young woman. This made Raju unhappy and he decided to escape from his bodyguard Gulshan ( Shakti Kapoor ). Raju lands in Bombay where he decides to work as a waiter in a restaurant to earn his living.
