Ashok Kumar and Waheeda Rehman starrer family drama flick, Rakhi, was released in the year 1962. The movie was directed by A. Bhimsingh. The other starcast of the movie includes Pradeep Kumar, Mohan Choti, Lalita Pawar, Mehmood, Randhir, Madan Puri and Shivaji Ganeshan in significant characters. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the well known veteran music director Ravi while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Orphan Raj Kumar alias Raju ( Ashok Kumar ) is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his sister, Radha ( Waheeda Rehman ). Raj loves his sister more than anything in the world. Raju works in a mill and makes living through it for him and his sister. Problem arises for them when mill workers goes on strike and Raju is also forced to stop working in the mill. He then starts a new business of manufacturing and seeling toys. Their luck shines and soon they both become rich. Raju then arranges Radha’s marriage to a guy named Ramesh Chandra ( Madan Puri ), who is an advocate by profession. Raj himself wants get married to Ramesh’s sister Malti ( Ameeta ).

But little does he knows is that Radha is in love with a guy named Anand ( Pradeep Kumar ) and wants to get married to him only. Raju reveals about their affair and gives his nod for their marriage. Soon Anand and Radha get married to each other and Radha moves to Anand’s house. But problem arises when Radha gets into an argument with Ramesh’s sister, Nandini ( Lalita Pawar ).
