Road was a romantic movie released on September 27, 2002 under the banner of Varma Corporation Ltd. The movie was directed by Rajat Mukherjee and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The actors in the lead roles were Vivek Oberoi, Vijay Raaz, Antra Mali and Sayaji Shinde while the roles of Manoj Bajpai and Makrand Deshpande were also important. Music of the film was directed by Amar Mohile and the songs were sung by Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chouhan, Gary Lawyer and Vinod Rathod.

Road produced by Ram Gopal Verma is a different movie with a different storyline. The movie is produced by him but directed by Rajat Mukherjee who also has the credit of directing Ram Gopal Varma’s Fardeen Khan and Urmila starrer Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. The name of the movie was suggested by Ramu even before the script was finalized. He adds saying that the title of the film is not only unusual but catchy as well and this will bring out the more audience for sure.

The story of the movie is inspired by Hollywood’s famous director Steven Spielberg’s flick Duel. The story revolves around Arvind ( Vivek Oberoi ) and Laxmi ( Antra Mali ) who love each other deeply. But not all were happy with their relationship and thus they had to run from their home to be with each other. On their way to escape they come across Babu ( Manoj Bajpai ) who asks for a lift. They don’t mind giving him the lift but didn’t know about the upcoming problems they will have to face.
