The movie Saawariya has been released on November 9, 2007 and was directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie starred Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee as the main actors in the film while Salman Khan can also seen in the film in a special appearance. The music directors of the film are Monty Sharma and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The songs of the film were sung by Shreya Ghosal, Richa Sharma, Shail Hada, Shaan, Alka Yagnik, Kunal Ganjawala and Parthiv Gohil.

Saawariya was the important movie for the actors of the film Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor who were debuting with it. The story of the movie was based on a Russian story named White Nights. The movie begins with Gulabji ( Rani Mukherjee ) who is a prostitute, narrating the story. The story is about an artist, happy go lucky natured person Raj ( Ranbir Kapoor ) who seems to enjoy his life to the full. He is a dreamer who has nobody known to him and also doesn’t have a place to live. But there is a quality of him that makes him the talk of the people, he was a lead singer at the RK club and his songs were spreading happiness wherever he went.

On seeing a young beauty Sakina ( Sonam Kapoor ) dressed in black standing alone on the bridge one silent night, he fell in love with her. Sakina was a shy girl and their friendship grew more and more. Raj decided to tell her about her feelings and his love but he was surprised to know her first love Imaan ( Salman Khan ). Imraan had promised her to return in her life after one year and that too on the day of the Id. But their friendship made her forget her past.
