The romantic movie Salma was released in the year of 1985. The movie was directed as well as produced by Ramanand Sagar. The major roles in the movie were played by Raj Babbar, Farooq Sheikh, Salma Agha and Shoma Anand while the roles of Paintal, Pradeep Kumar, Sujit Kumar, Sushma Seth, Prema Narayan and Iftekhar were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Salma Agha.

The movie Salma was a romantic film that revolved mostly around a man named Nawabzada Aslam ( Raj Babbar ) who is a Lucknow based person living a wealthy life with his family consisting of his father Bakar ( Pradeep Kumar ) and mother ( Sushma Seth ). His favorite work was that of writing poems but in the name of Raj Lakhnavi. He also had a friend named Iqbal ( Farooq Sheikh ). One day he comes across a beautiful girl named Salma Banarsi ( Salma Agha ) who is a Banaras based courtesan. He falls in love with her.

The twist in the story comes when Aslam was told by his father that he has arranges his marriage with his foreign-returned cousin, Mumtaz ( Shoma Anand ) and both should get married soon. But Aslam loved Salma and when he tells this to his father he was disappointed a lot which made him shoot him. Aslam gets hospitalized but the day when he recovered, he finds that Salma not only has started loving Iqbal but also has taken lots of jewelry from Iqbal’s mother.
