Bollywood family drama, Shehzada, directed by K. Shankar and written by Rajendra Krishan was released in the year 1972. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Rakhee Gulzar in lead roles while Mohan Choti, Sunder, Veena, Varalakshmi, Madan Puri, Karan Dewan and Jairaj also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran well knwon music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Ratan ( Karan Dewan ), who is in love with girl named Janki ( Pandharibai ) and wants to get married with her. But his father, who is the DIG of Police, refuse to accept Janki as his daughter-in-law. Ratan somehow manage to comnvince his parents about his marraige with Janki and soon they both get married. After sometime, roits ensues between freedom fighters and police and as a result of this Ratan’s father is killed. Janki is then forced to leave the house immediately.

Janki gives birth to a son and names him Rajesh ( Rajesh Khanna ). Years later, Rajesh is now a grown up guy. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Chanda ( Rakhee Gulzar ). Janki ask Rajesh to go to meet his father which he does. Rajesh is welcomed in his father’s house. He is then asked to live alongwith his father to which he refuses as he cannot leave his mother. But his refusal gets him into a big trouble.
