Bollywood action crime drama, Shool, directed by E. Nivas and written by Anurag Kashyap was released on November 5, 1999. The movie starred Manoj Bajpai and Raveena Tandon in lead roles while Sayaji Shinde, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Pratima Kazmi, Ganesh Yadav, Veerendra Saxena, Shilpa Shetty and Nagesh Bhonsle also played important characters in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the music director Sandeep Chowta while the songs were rendered by Sukhwinder singh, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sapna Awasthi etc.

Samar Pratap Singh ( Manoj Bajpai ) is an honest and brave police inspector who get posting in the city in Uttar Pradesh. He moves in the city alongswith his wife, Manjari ( Raveena Tandon ) and a daughter. But his honesty sets him up against his superior as well as his fellow officers. He belives that law is equal for everyone and no one should be given importance because of his powerful background. His sincerity and dedication for his work puts his name in the bad dictionary of local MLA Bacchu Yadav ( Sayaji Shinde ).

Soon problems starts revolving around Samar and his family. But his wife and daughter supports him which increases his confidence in himself. Bacchu Yadav is determined to make Samar bend on his knees in front of him. He decides to target on Samar’s family as he is fully aware of the fact that Samar’s only weakness is his family. How Samar manage to save his family’s life from Bacchu Yadav and how he gets rid of him is the rest of the story.
