The family drama Waqt - Race Against Time was released on April 22, 2005 under the banners of Blockbuster Movie Entertainers, Entertainment One and Eros Entertainment. The movie was directed and produced by Vipul Shah. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar and Boman Irani while the presence of Rajpal Yadav and Shefali Chhaya supported the film. music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Adnan Sami, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalakshmi Iyer and Sudesh Bhosle.

The director Vipul Shah made his directorial debut with the movie “Aankhen” and now he has made a film which has quite different theme. The story of the movie is about the relations of a father and a son who are more like as friends. Father Ishwar Sharawat ( Amitabh Bachchan ) of Aditya ( Akshay Kumar ), is the owner of a toy manufacturing company and wanted to spread happiness amongst the kids as is clear from the fact that he always distributes the toys to the orphans on Diwali. His life seems complete and happy with his loving wife Sumitra ( Shefali Shah ).

Aditya has his love interest in Mitali ( Priyanka Chopra ), daughter of Nathu ( Boman Irani ). After the usual initial hiccups in their love life they soon get married. Ishwar was unhappy with one problem of Aditya that he was an irresponsible man. Ishwar thought that he would turn responsible after marriage but his efforts proved ineffective. Ishwar decides to throw him out both of them in hopes that he would gain some responsibility but on the other side he was shocked and speechless. Aditya started working as a stuntman and the differences between him and his father grows.
