The family drama Yeh Rishta Na Toote was released on July 30, 1981. The movie was directed by K Vijayan and produced by P Anand Rao. The major roles in the movie were played by Rajendra Kumar, Jagdeep, Mala Sinha and Vinod Mehra while the supporting roles were played by Bindiya Goswami, Raj Babbar, Kalpana Iyer, Shakti Kapoor, Johny Lever and Bindiya. The music of the film was directed by Kalayanji and Anandji while the songs were sung by Manhar Udhas, Alka Yagnik, Suresh Wadkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Mahendra Kapoor and Asha Bhosle.

The movie Yeh Rishta Na Toote was a family flick that revolved mostly around a man named Ram Kapoor ( Vinod Mehra ) who belongs to a poor family. He comes across a young and beautiful girl named Kiran ( Bindiya Goswami ) who belonged to a middle class family. Ram has a brother Shyam ( Raj Babbar ) who along with his brother Ram are petty thieves. They did so to make out for their living. One day Ram meets Kiran and both falls in love with each other.

The love was so deep that instantly Ram and Kiran decided to get married to each other soon. But Ram has a problem that he knew he was a thief while Kiran’s father is a Police Inspector named Vijay Kumar ( Rajendra Kumar ) who would never approve of their relationship. But in spite of all the oppositions, the two get married to each other and one day Kiran gets pregnant which her mother Madhu ( Mala Sinha ) gets a look at.
