For a youngster who has grown up in the city of Mumbai previously known as Bombay there is a certain feeling of nostalgia that is associated with the name Bombay. That is what might have been going through the head of Ayan Mukherjee while scripting for Wake Up Sid. Now during the entire creative process he would never have imagined that this would create some sort of controversy. Karan Johar has offered a public apology but the question to be asked it whether it was necessary to offer that apology?

When the censor board passed the movie and was satisfied with the use of the word then why should somebody else rise up and demand a change when the authorizing body saw no problem with the usage of word Bombay. In the Shahid Kapur starrer, Kaminey also there is a scene where Amol Gupte that is Bhope Bhai asks Guddu as to where he was born.

He replies back saying Bombay to which he shouts back at him saying that is Mumbai and not Bombay. It would not be going too far to think that making Wake Up Sid a target was to get more mileage especially with the elections nearing by in the state of Maharashtra. Rather than dealing with the real issues of the common person, they are more interested in getting the vocabulary correct in movies.

The political leaders seem to be more interested in killing creative freedom rather than solving out real problems and battling other things. On the eve of elections, it is terrifying to see the mindset of our politicians and what change they will bring if given the power.
